The weekend of July 4th is known not only for celebrating the American Independence but for a time when Kenyans from different states in the United States and others from our country Kenya congregate at James Madison University (JMU) for an annual conference organized by Kenya Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA). During this year’s conference the Kenyan Embassy in Washington DC was represented by Mr.Julius Bargonett who is the Deputy Chief of Mission/ Head of Chancery.
KCFA is an organization that has been in existence in America for the last 24 years that was founded by Dr. Joe Karogi with a vision of providing fellowship and Networking to our people away from home. This year was also our election year and a new National President was elected- Dr. Joseph Onyango Okello who will be taking over the leadership from the current KCFA National President –Dr. Duncan Kihoro ( Dr. Kihoro served this organization diligently for the last four years). The handing over ceremony will be held in New Jersey this coming October.
Dr. Okello holds a PHD from the University of Kentucky. He served as a Pastor of Jimtown United Methodist Church in Lexington Kentucky for 14 years and at the same time was a Professor at Asbury Seminary. Dr. Okello is also an author having written “The Case for Miracles, and Heaven:God’s Solution to Human Pain amongst many more. He moved to Florida in 2011, where he resides until now.
Dr. Okello is married to his dear wife Sophie and both are blessed with a young wonderful son. He comes to KCFA with a desire to see the ministry move to another level.
