Johnstone Muthama, the senator of Machakos county has said that president Uhuru Kenyatta should always consult Kalonzo Musyoka, the co-principal, Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) before visiting the region.

“The President should notify Kalonzo of any state tour he makes to this region and where possible invite him to attend. Otherwise, the many tours he is making to this region will be of no help to him,”  Muthama is quoted by the Star.

Muthama revealed that the only person who can link up any presidential aspirant with people from Ukambani region is Kalonzo,“I am telling President Uhuru Kenyatta if he wants to win the Kamba vote in 2017, he has no option but to talk to one Kalonzo Musyoka. Any other person telling you something else is deceiving you.”

It is reported that Uhuru may use Dr. Alfred Mutua, the governor of Machakos county as his ‘point guard’ to woo people from the region to vote in favour of him.

However, Mutua dismissed reports saying that he is not interested to beUkambani’s kingpin, but wants to ensure the region grows economically.

“It saddens me that some leaders see every move as a threat to their comfort level and to their control of power. It has always been about them… I am, as I have always been, ready to work with ALL leaders,” Mutua explained.

The race to state house 2017 has already attracted three presidential aspirants. Uhuru, Raila and Musalia Mudavadi have expressed interest to contest for the top post in the country.
