Uhuru to tour Kisumu, Western and North Rift from Saturday

President Uhuru Kenyatta will kick off a three-day tour of Western and the North Rift to inspect, commission and launch a number of development projects on Saturday.

Uhuru is scheduled to visit Kakamega, Bungoma, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.

In Bungoma, he will open the Lwakhakha border point before issuing Kibabii University its charter.

“The opening of the border crossing point to Uganda re-emphasises Kenya’s commitment to the free movement of goods, services and people throughout the East African region.”

Uhuru will on Sunday attend a thanksgiving service at the Anglican Church of Kenya cathedral in Kisumu. Thereafter, he will travel to Eldoret to meet leaders from Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties at the Eldoret State Lodge.

In his last day, the President will launch a tractor project in Eldoret, before commissioning the Iluka-Elgeyo border road, and the Siyoi water project.

He will also visit and inspect the campus of Kapenguria’s Medical Training College before heading to Nairobi.

The tour comes five days after Cord leader Raila Odinga visit to the South Rift.

Raila addressed claims he ‘fixed’ Deputy President William Ruto at the ICC as well as holding meetings with leaders in the Rift Valley region.
