Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has seemingly poked holes on a decision to send home directors of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).

In a post made after the announcement that PSCU had been disbanded, the Senator weighed in on the issue. He declared his support for three of the dismissed Directors whom he described as ‘true gentlemen’.

The senator questioned why the of Head of Public Communications Munyori Buku, Chief of Messaging at the Presidency Eric Ng’eno, and Digital and Diaspora Communications Manager Dennis Itumbi had been sent packing. This happened despite the fact they had stood by the President.

“While the others were busy making money in the corporate world, these men were in the trenches with Uhuru and Ruto,” he stated.

The Senate Deputy Leader of Majority indicated that suspension of the three would have been orchestrated by individuals with ill intention. He called it ‘a coup by the bad men against the good foot soldiers’.

Directors of PSCU were on Wednesday evening sent home. Sources privy to the suspension revealed that the President was concerned about the leaking of uncertified information to the public. Additionally, he worried about unstructured communication by the team.

According to a statement issued by Deputy Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita, the PSCU team would be restructured in the shortest time possible with an emphasis on more organized communication.
