Gitobu Imanyara tipped to succeed Namwamba in top ODM job
Former Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara has taken over as the Secretary General of ODM in an acting capacity, according to a post in the party’s social media account.
The development follows Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba’s resignation on Wednesday.
Ababu cited harassment and disrespect from the party’s top leadership.
His resignation had followed days of speculation after the MP’s earlier complaints of frustration since taking over from Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o about a year and six months ago.
Ababu’s resignation Wednesday came hot on the heels of ODM’s national chairman John Mbadi’s daring comments that the Budalang’i legislator was free to take advantage of ODM’s wide democratic space to quit the Secretary General’s post.
