News of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s elder son’s marriage caught many by surprise.
Photos of the private traditional wedding ceremony that were seemingly pixilated deliberately, made it impossible to know the identity of the attendees, location or even date of the event.
It is no surprise that many of the publications did not include the name of the bride while others carried images that had showed Jomo’s cousin as the supposed bride.
Kenyans.co.ke sought to establish the identity of Jomo’s fiancee – Achola Fiona Ngobi.
Achola is as blue-blooded as her future husband, she is of mixed Kenyan and Ugandan heritage.
She is a granddaughter of long-serving Cabinet Minister William Omamo – the father of Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo.
Achola is the daughter of a top boardroom executive who has served in a number of blue chip companies including BAT, EABL, among several other companies.
The soon to be ‘first daughter-in-law’ attended prestigious schools, starting at Pembroke House before travelling to South Africa where she studied at St Anne’s Diocesan College.
The South African college is an expensive private girls’ boarding school situated in the small town of Hilton in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands of South Africa.
St Anne’s Diocesan College’s website shows the soon to be Mrs Kenyatta was a bright-all-rounded student who won numerous academic awards and served as Vice-Captain for the netball team.
Incidentally, her fiancee Jomo attended Hilton College – another prestigious private boarding school for boys also located near Hilton town.
Achola’s grandfather was a veteran politician and was mostly fronted by Jomo Kenyatta and later President Daniel Moi is countering the political force of the Odinga family in the then Siaya district.
