Governor Hassan Joho cancels Kibra rally for budget readingMombasa Governor Hassan Joho has called off ODM’s Kibra rally to allow budget reading, which he has noted is a national function.

On Wednesday, a fired up Joho told excited supporters he would hold the rally to “tell [President Uhuru Kenyatta] the truth”. This was after he was grilled at the Mombasa police headquarters on claims he forged his academic papers.

The reading for financial year 2017/18 will take place at Parliament on Thursday afternoon.

“A new date for the rally will be announced after consultations with party leadership and Nairobi leaders,” said Mombasa county director of communications Richard Chacha.

Chacha said Joho “sincerely apologised” to his supporters.

“We ask our supporters to remain steadfast as we march to remove the autocratic Jubilee regime from power and restore nationhood by NASA,” the statement read.

Joho defended his D- in KCSE saying he struggled through school and was not as privileged as the President.

He and Uhuru have taken each other to task over matters including development and the use of funds.

Joho has held several rallies at the Coast but some did not take place after police said they were not approved.

“We told you that after Coast tours, we will take the fight to the door step. Tomorrow we are in Kibra near their homes,” he told his supporters on Wednesday.

Joho went to the police headquarters accompanied by ODM leaders including Siaya Senator and lawyer James Orengo, woman representative Mishi Mboko, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and secretary general Agnes Zani (Nominated Senator).

They held hands as they marched there in a show of solidarity while their supporters waved placards questions the government on the woes their Governor has been facing.
