In an apparent response to Nasa supporters’ demos in New York, New Jersey and Dallas, President Kenyatta’s supporters based in the US have staged a show-of-force in a New Jersey.

The Jubilee Party backers dismissed Nasa leaders’ and supporters’ call for changes within the electoral commission as hypocritical and selfish.

Supporters of the Uhuru Movement in the United States have been actively organizing demonstrations under the “Hands Off Uhuru! Hands Off Africa!” campaign.

This initiative emerged in response to federal charges against members of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP), including Chairman Omali Yeshitela, who were accused of acting as Russian agents to sow political discord and interfere in U.S. elections.

The activists denied these allegations, asserting that their actions were aligned with their long-standing goals of Black empowerment and reparation advocacy.

In December 2024, a federal court jury acquitted the Uhuru 3—Yeshitela, Jesse Nevel, and Penny Hess—of the most serious charges, sentencing them instead to probation and community service.

Despite this legal victory, supporters continue to mobilize, emphasizing the case’s significance as a First Amendment issue and a broader struggle against colonialism and repression.

Demonstrations have been held nationwide, including in cities like Washington, D.C., San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York.

These events feature marches, rallies, and educational forums, often coinciding with significant dates such as African Liberation Day. Participants demand the dropping of all charges against the Uhuru 3 and advocate for the defense of free speech and Black liberation.

The “Hands Off Uhuru!” campaign remains active, organizing film screenings, panel discussions, and community outreach efforts to raise awareness and garner support for the movement’s objectives .
