Raila Odinga should not dupe the international community to intervene and form a coalition government, a section of Jubilee MPs has said.

In a letter to the EU, Britain, US, UN and the African Union, the legislators said Raila is pushing for political dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta in an attempt to force his way into the government.

“We respectfully ask you, as our international partners, not to be party to this subversion of Kenya’s constitutional order,” the leaders said on Thursday.

They added: “You must instead demand that Raila stops grandstanding and trying to subvert the law to achieve his selfish political needs”.

The MPs said there is no constitutional crisis that warrants the need for the international community to intervene

The 15 legislators argue that there was a deliberate attempt by Raila to now subvert the constitution after realising that he cannot win in the repeat presidential race.

The MPs who have signed the letter dated October 12 include : Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Gathoni Wa Muchomba (Kiambu Women Rep) , Peter Kihara (Mathioya), Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga), and Patrick Munene (Chuka Igambang’ombe).

Others are Gideon Keter (Nominated), Patrick Mariru (Laikipia West),James Mwangi (Tetu) and Faith Gitau (Nyandarua Women Rep),

James Gichuhi (Tetu), Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town) and Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) also signed the letter.

The MPs told the international community that Kenya’s economy has been greatly affected by political uncertainty caused by the Opposition, adding that anti-IEBCs protest by NASA has made the situation worse.

NASA intends to step up demos next week while acting Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has banned protests in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

The Jubilee MPs urged the international community to demand that Raila should follow the constitution even has he is fighting for his political rights.

They said: “It is now apparent that Raila will do everything he can to frustrate the holding of these elections on October 26, when majority of Kenyans want to bring this political uncertainty to an end and therefore are committed to have the elections on the stated date.”

Another section of Jubilee leaders have dared Raila to make his withdrawal from the repeat election official.

“We want to thank the former Prime Minister for writing to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission expressing his intent not to run on October 26,” former Kajiado North MP Sakuda told a rally at Kambu Shopping Centre.

He added: “The Nasa presidential candidate should go ahead and make official his attempt to withdraw from the race to give us an opportunity to swear in President Uhuru Kenyatta.”

He was accompanied by former Kaiti MPs Gideon Ndambuki and Katemi Makenga, former Makueni Peter Kiilu and former Mwingi North MP Joe Munuve. They were hosted by former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki

The leaders commended the IEBC for saying that the presidential repeat polls would be held in two weeks time as ordered by the Supreme Court.

Citing recent defections of former NASA politicians into the Jubilee fold, the leaders expressed confidence Uhuru would win the repeat polls.

“We are opposed to the NASA leader’s attempt at grabbing power through cutting boardroom deals,” said former Embu Speaker Kariuki Mate.

They urged the Kamba community to come out in large numbers to vote for the Jubilee leader who they said meant well for the electorate.

They asked Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to take advantage of Raila’s apparent “disinterest in leadership” and decamp to Jubilee.

“The Wiper leader has been misleading Kambas for many years and this is an opportunity for him to lead them to Jubilee,” said Munuve.

These leaders do not represent the Kenyan people, but Uhuru’ s region of origin. What Raila is requesting is basic, A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD FOR THE ELECTIONS. But since they know that Uhuru cannot win a free and fair election. If Uhuru believes that Kenyans want him as a leader why is he changing the law to his favor in the middle of an electio? or why is he refusing for the people who bungled the last elections to be removed? All jubilee is demonizing Raila but we as Kenyan we urge the international community to see the facts as they are. They want a rigged win and Kenyans are tired of the likes of Uhuru and Ruto who just want power to serve their own interests!
