Ruto in Christian Union

Ruto was accompanied by local leaders and allies including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.

The deputy president has a long association with the evangelical community, having been an active member of the Christian Union at the University of Nairobi.

It was in the CU leadership that he gained the attention of political leaders, often being involved in delegations to pay homage to former President Daniel arap Moi before joining the dreaded the YK92 that campaigned for the then President in the 1992 election.
