Through a video that has been doing rounds on social media, Waititu stated that he is not in hiding and he is ready to appear in court.

“People are claiming that authorities are looking for me, where are they looking and I’m right here?

“I want people to know that if found guilty, I’m ready to face the court and answer to charges just like all the other men.ย I don’t see any fault in employing my wife and daughter in my companies,” he said.

Further, he jumped to the defense of his wife and daughter saying there is no harm in employing them in his own company.

“For people who are claiming that I have employed my wife and daughter in my companies, I think I should employ my family members, am I not supposed to employ them?” he asked.

Adding that those who are out to tarnish his name should back up their claims with facts.

“People should know that their malice was shut down when the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) asked them to produce evidence but they couldn’t,” said the governor.

On Thursday, Waititu came under heavy criticism after his soon-to-be in law was reportedly shortlisted for a county job in Kiambu.

Herman Gitau Nyotu was named among 5 individuals shortlisted for the position of Chairperson, Kiambu County Public Service Board (CPSB).

Nyotuโ€™s son, Dr Nyotu Gitau, is set to marry Governor Waitituโ€™s daughter, Dr Njeri Ndungu, on Saturday July 20, 2019 at the PCEA Evergreen in Runda.
