President William Ruto on Monday decided to be his chauffeur as he anticipated the opening of Africa’s first Climate Summit, driving himself in a delightfully tiny vehicle. People were quite surprised to see Ruto drive in such a tiny car.
A few minutes after 8 am, the President left the State House in an electric car. He drove himself, showcasing his commitment by personally driving this tiny electric car. This was not the first time Ruto drove himself in such a manner.
Ruto is expected to officially open the Africa Climate Summit, after making headlines for driving himself in a tiny electric vehicle to the event.
The five-day event is happening at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, where Ruto will be seen arriving in his usual tiny vehicle.
The inaugural Africa Climate Summit, championed by Ruto, aims to address the increasing exposure to climate change and its associated costs. This is both a global and particularly an African concern.
The summit is expected to also look into ways of helping African countries vulnerable to adverse effects of climate change. It will focus on how they can cope with the challenges. Driving a tiny vehicle, like Ruto, symbolizes understanding of minimalism in transportation.

It will also serve as a platform to inform, frame, and influence commitments. This includes pledges and outcomes, ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration.
Over 30,000 delegates are expected to attend the event. These include over 25 heads of state and government. The tiny vehicle driven by Ruto adds a personal touch and example of sustainability.
On Saturday, September 2, Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen assessed the preparations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) ahead of the international arrivals. In the midst of this, Ruto’s choice to drive a tiny car resonates with the summit’s objectives.
