Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Identify new diaspora loan opportunities through networking, referrals, and cross-selling within branches and existing client portfolios
- Analyze both local and international financial documents, conduct due diligence, and assess borrower risk profiles
- Structure and negotiate loan terms while preparing comprehensive credit proposals with risk ratings and exposure strategies
- Present credit proposals to credit committees for approval where necessary
- Manage the full loan lifecycle—from lead generation to loan booking—in collaboration with internal business units
- Conduct interim and annual credit reviews, monitor loan covenants, and report significant changes to credit committees
- Engage customers to understand their financial needs and provide advisory on loan structuring and documentation
- Support internal teams through training, mentorship, and team-building initiatives
Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify for this role, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in SME credit, with international credit experience considered an added advantage
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior-level executives in decision-making and reporting
- Strong background in financial analysis, accounting, and credit risk assessment
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution; postgraduate qualifications in finance or banking are a plus
- In-depth understanding of banking operations, credit policies, and procedures
- Willingness to travel regionally to support diaspora engagement and branch networking
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
- Strong negotiation, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships with remote teams
