Three Questions, One Approval: Kelvin Wachira’s F-1 Visa Journey

Kelvin Wachira’s F-1 visa interview experience was surprisingly brief, yet impactful. With only three questions asked, the process moved quickly but required clarity and confidence. He was asked about his travel plans to the United States, the program he intended to study and why he had chosen it, and how he planned to finance the remaining balance of his education.

He responded with confidence, explaining his academic goals and his financial plan. This included the role of Optional Practical Training in supporting his journey. While the interview itself went smoothly, he was initially issued a yellow slip due to the need for updated information on his DS-160. Specifically, the missing information concerned his social media details. After a few days of processing, the outcome turned positive, and he received the long-awaited approval.

Behind his success was a strong support system. Kelvin’s journey began through a referral from his aunt, and his family remained present and supportive every step of the way. Their encouragement gave him the confidence to push forward. This support endured even as he prepared to leave home for the first time.

As he got ready to travel, Kelvin faced a mix of excitement and nerves, especially with it being his first time on an airplane. Despite the uncertainty, he remained optimistic about the journey ahead.

His message to future students was simple,” the opportunity is real, and with hard work, self-belief, and faith, success is achievable.” His story stands as proof that preparation and persistence truly pay off.
