Stephanie Chebet from Bomet County, Kenya, is set to pursue a Master of Science in Business Analytics at the University of South Dakota, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her academic journey.
Stephanie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from Chuka University. It was during her second year that she first encountered the International Scholars Program (ISP) when the team visited her campus. The possibility of studying in the United States immediately captured her imagination.
After graduation and inspired by a colleague who had successfully transitioned through the same pathway, she decided to explore the opportunity more seriously.
She officially joined the program in September 2025 and began her application process right away. In less than three months, she had completed all the required steps.
Stephanie describes the experience as smooth, organized, and well-guided. The mock interview sessions were especially impactful, equipping her with insights into common embassy questions and helping her approach her visa interview with clarity and confidence.
On the day of her interview, she was asked why she chose the University of South Dakota, about her current employer, and how she intended to finance and repay her loan. Shortly afterward, she received her visa approval.
Stephanie attributes much of her success to her family’s unwavering support, particularly her father’s encouragement and financial commitment. As she prepares to depart, she feels both excitement and nervous anticipation. She looks forward to embracing new experiences, adapting to a different environment, and expanding her global perspective.
Her message to other students is simple: maintain faith, prepare thoroughly, and walk into the embassy with confidence.
