Chaos erupts in Kitengela: Police were forced to use tear gas canisters in Kitengela on Sunday afternoon to disperse Jubilee and ODM supporters who had clashed during a rally called by Kajiado Governor’s seat aspirant Joseph Ole Lenku.

Trouble started when ODM supporters started chanting anti-Jubilee slogans at the Kitengela KCB grounds where the former Interior Cabinet Secretary was addressing his campaign rally.
Calm was restored later and the meeting continued peacefully.
Speaking during the rally, Ole Lenku linked Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye to the violence that rocked his meeting.

Police did a good job on this one I hope if they did not harm attendees who just happened to get caught in the middle of this mess. The story doesn’t mention if anyone was hurt. But hopefully police security will be strong and unbiased considering these kind of skirmishes and the fact that no private security is allowed. Peace for Kenya and Kenya’s poiticians. ODM and Jubilee should keep thugs away and if thugs are being paid then this should be punished. There are innocent men, women, and children at these rallies. There is no place for violence during campaigning because there should never be another Saba Saba–Kenya is better than that now. Reasonableness makes a great nation. There are means of protest which are not violent and political rallies are not the place for protests anyway. Campaigns can be run separately and senseably. No one deserves to be hurt for coming out to hear a candidate. Listening does not mean support. But chanting against the speaker is not cool and will only cause trouble–perhaps the chanters should be escorted away. Get your own rally and present your own speaker. If someone comes to bother you the police are supposed to intercede. If they don’t do so using restraint so as to pervent harm to innocents, then they are not doing their job well.
