Memorial Service Invitation: Dr. Mwangi Karangu’s 1st Anniversary

It is now one year since Dr. Karangu left us to be with the Lord. The family sincerely appreciated your prayers and support during his illness. We are grateful for the emotional and financial support throughout his funeral arrangements and final interment and for your continued love and care during the year. Please join us in observing Dr Karangu’s 1st Anniversary Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on March 14, 2009 at 9600 Pulaski Park Drive, Suite 115, Middle River, MD 21220. We will be greatly honored by your presence.

In his life, Dr Karangu was a distinguished professor of economics, a beacon of hope, a father, a counselor, and a pillar in the community. Dr. Karangu immensely contributed to the welfare of the Kenyan community and other minority groups by reaching out materially, as a counselor, and as a mentor.

He championed personal responsibility of the youth and encouraged Kenyans in the Diaspora to take pride in their Kenyan heritage and challenged parents to teach children their mother tongue. He passionately encouraged the pursuit of higher education in the Kenyan Community and helped many realize their educational dreams. He was a big advocate of building Kenya by investing in Kenya.

In recognition of Dr Karangu’s benevolence and service, particularly his contribution in advancement of higher education in the Kenyan community, family, friends, and associates have created theDr Mwangi Karangu Education Foundation Scholarship, anon-profit organization.The objective of the foundation is to ensure the continuance of Dr Karangu’s legacy of service to the community and his desire for an educated community. The first recipients of the scholarship will be announced during the memorial service on March 14, 2009. In an effort the keep this foundation well endowed and help more students in the future, we are requesting contributions, which are tax deductible, from the community at large.
