Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga’s rural home in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua has been torched and property of unknown value destroyed.

Six people, who were in the compound during the early morning incident, were beaten up and restrained by ropes.

The traditional hut was burnt to the ground but two other wooden houses were spared. Two police officers from Ngano police post arrived at the scene as investigations begun.

In the past week, Mr Njenga claimed his life was in danger.

The former sect leader has recorded a statement with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
