CORD endorses Raila as flagbearer

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD), Saturday endorsed Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga as its presidential candidate for the March 4th 2013 general Elections.

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was named the CORD Presidential running mate while Ford – Kenya party Leader entrusted with leader of the Majority in the house during a public rally held at the historic Uhuru Park Grounds.

Mr. Musyoka ignited lengthy applause, cheers and ululation from the mammoth crowed when he declared ‘Raila Tosha’.

“We have come a long way and I want to pay back my friend Raila by saying today ‘Raila Tosha’ he declared.

In his acceptance and touching speech, the Prime Minister promised the nation to honour their confidence by serving the country   diligently.

Mr. Raila thanked the Vice President and Ford – Kenya leader and other affiliate political parties for supporting the CORD mission to unite all Kenyans.

The Prime Minister who passionately appealed to Kenyans to elect him the 4th  President promised to unite the country and steer the nation to further heights of socio-economic prosperity.

“Kenya has the capacity to change for the better and this nation deserves good governance that will utilize its human and  vast natural resources including mineral deposits to create wealth and employment opportunities as well as strengthen the country’s GDP to over 7% in the next two years and even better,”

Mr. Raila assured Kenyans that his government will respect the rule of law and fulfill the implementation of the new Constitution to guarantee justice for every citizen.

The Prime Minister said under his stewardship the government will prioritize security of people’s lives and property  and ensure everyone goes about their duties of nation building without fear as well as provide an enabling environment for local and foreign investments.

On his part the Vice President while accepting to be CORD presidential running mate, called on Kenyans to utilize wisely their democratic and constitutional rights to vote in CORD leadership as it would guarantee true change and reforms that will transform the country to higher levels of prosperity.

Mr. Musyoka promised to campaign vigorously across the country  for the coalition expressing confidence that CORD will form the next government within the first round of the elections.

He allayed fears that CORD government will embark on repossessing people’s property but assured that rule of law and justice for everyone would be paramount.

The Vice President appealed to the nation to support a revolution towards change and reforms that will ensure unity of the country.

On his side Moses Wetangula called on Kenyans to support CORD Coalition saying that it’s the only party that is fully determined to reforms the country.
