The source said President Mwai Kibaki called both Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto requesting them to accommodate Mudavadi in their axis so that they can trounce Raila–Kalonzo axis in the forthcoming general election axis.
There were wide speculations initially that Musalia Mudavadi who is also United Democratic Forum (UDF) party leader is a “State House Project” and this may cement the issue that Mudavadi is President Mwai Kibaki’s project.
Uhuru, Ruto and Mudavadi agreed that Ruto will remain the coalition’s running mate but Uhuru and Mudavadi will within 14 days face off in party nominations for the Presidential ticket.
They agreed the person who loses out in these nominations will be the House Majority Leader in parliament
