Wednesday December 5, 2012 – The last minute call by President Mwai Kibaki saved Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi from being left alone in the forthcoming general election.
According to a credible source privy to State House operations, it was last minute intervention by President Mwai Kibaki that saved DPM Mudavadi from being left out alone from forming a coalition.
The source said President Mwai Kibaki called both Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto requesting them to accommodate Mudavadi in their axis so that they can trounce RailaโKalonzo axis in the forthcoming general election axis.
There were wide speculations initially that Musalia Mudavadi who is also United Democratic Forum (UDF) party leader is a โState House Projectโ and this may cement the issue that Mudavadi is President Mwai Kibakiโs project.
Uhuru, Ruto and Mudavadi agreed that Ruto will remain the coalitionโs running mate but Uhuru and Mudavadi will within 14 days face off in party nominations for the Presidential ticket.
They agreed the person who loses out in these nominations will be the House Majority Leader in parliament
