The Next Presidential Debate To Be In Kiswahili

Wednesday February 13thย 2013 –ย The destiny for the second round of the Presidential debate that is due on 25thย this month hangs in the balance after elders from Mombasa County threatened to stop it in court if Kiswahili language will not be used in the debate.

Speaking to the media in Mombasa yesterday, the elders criticized the organizers of the just concluded Presidential debate for failure to adhere to the constitution which recognizes Kiswahili as a national language.
According to Mr. Mohammed, a resident of Majengo Mombasa, the debate failed to achieve its objective since majority of Kenyan particularly from the Coastal region did not understand a thing due to their low proficiency in the English language.
The elders have petitioned the Media fraternity and the entire organizers of the next Presidential debate to divide the sessions into two, where one will be moderated in Swahili language for them and many other Kenyans to understand what their Presidential candidates are saying.
The organizers have been given seven days to respond or else the elders move to court.
