Mike Rua: I was not deported from UK

Singer Mike Rua has denied claims by UK promoters that he was denied entry to the UK at London’s Heathrow Airport, a day before his March 29 show in Luton.

“I can tell you for a fact that I was in Thika the day tthey are claiming I was in the UK. I had a listening party for a new CD at Club Beat and the following day, I was at Image in Thika before I went to see my mother in Juja,” Rua told Word Is.

According to the statement posted on Exodus Event’s Facebook page, “Mike Rua’s entry denial is beyond our control and our appeal could only be next week Tuesday which is too late.”

Rua however claims the statement was a move to placate the UK fans who were expecting to see him for the two-day tour dubbed ‘Mugithi Wa Mike Rua Live In UK This Easter’.

“Initially our agreement was that they deposit some money in the bank as payment for the concert before we could leave the country. They had not done so at the time they were supposed to,” Rua said.

“We actually went for the visa interview on Wednesday (April 3) and by then the concert dates had already elapsed.”

At the time of going to press, the organisers had not commented on the claims by Rua.
