Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has consistently denied seeking or being offered a position within Kenya’s Jubilee administration.
In 2021, he clarified that he had neither joined Jubilee nor expelled anyone from the party, emphasizing his leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and distancing himself from Jubilee’s internal conflicts.
In June 2024, Odinga expressed surprise when President William Ruto announced support for his candidacy for the African Union Commission chairperson, stating that he had not sought the government’s endorsement .
He reiterated that his decision to run was personal, and he was not asked by the government to vie for the position.
Additionally, Odinga has publicly rejected offers from Jubilee-linked individuals attempting to bribe him into retirement. He revealed that he was offered up to KSh 25 billion to exit politics, which he declined, likening the temptation to that faced by Jesus.
In August 2024, Odinga announced a sabbatical from active Kenyan politics to focus on his campaign for the AU Commission chairperson, describing this period as a transition from local to continental political engagement.
These statements collectively underscore Odinga’s consistent position that he has not sought or been offered any role within the Jubilee administration.
