The Kenyan Community in South Bend is mourning the loss of an innocent child while making plans for her funeral and memorial.
Sunday morning 6-year-old Shirley Mundia was stabbed to death, allegedly by her own father.
The group is banding together to help Shirley’s mother cope with the loss.
Lucy and Shirley Mundia attended Christian Church International.
“It’s a big loss to us, especially to that little girl. Who was small and innocent, 6 years. We have been crying since yesterday, since we heard the news,” said Pastor Andrew Mutari of Christian Church International.
Mutari says everyone will be pitching in to pay for the girl’s funeral.
He added he thinks Lucy will be able to recover emotionally and face life after losing her daughter.
