3 People Arrested Over Tuju wife Lover’s Death

Three friends of Raphael Tuju’s wife lover Tony Ogunda have been arrested following a medical report indicating that he may have died from an injury that he received when they had a fight a week prior to his death.

Sources at the Kilimani police station said they were questioning the three friends about an incident at Umoja during which Ogunga sustained injuries.

The three were also among the first to insinuate that Ogunda’s death was due to foul play. They have previously been questioned by the police who wanted to know whether Ogunda had confided in them about any threats to his life.

Ogunda was found dead on July 2 2013 in the servants quarters of the Upper Hill house off Matumbato road belonging to former Minister Raphael Tuju occupied by a caretaker—Cosmas Okoth Opondo.

George Otieno, a close friend to Ogunda had claimed that the door to the Upperhill house in which Ogunda’s body was found had been broken during a scuffle.

Kilimani CID boss George Ojuka said the three friends were all sharing a house at Umoja. He said the ex-GSU man re-located to Upper Hill following a scuffle and had lived there for two weeks before his lifeless body was found spreadeagled on the floor. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Ogunda was cited in the acrimonious divorce between Tuju and his estranged wife Ruth Wanjare. Ogunda was buried at his parents home in Kaksingiri Manyala village home in Homa Bay on 13 July 2013.

The caretaker, Opondo, who was the last person to be seen with Ogunda has since been charged with his murder and is out on bail. Ogunda and Opondo were drinking together at Relax Bar on River Road hours prior to Ogunda’s death.
