Kenyan Judy Wakhungu gets Unesco job

Water Cabinet Secretary Judy Wakhungu has been appointed a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Scientific Advisory Board by UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon.

The central function of the Board is to provide advice on science, technology and innovation for sustainable development. In a press release yesterday, Wakhungu said: “This is a great honour bestowed upon me, the Ministry and the Government of Kenya”.

Some of the key objectives will be to strengthen the linkage between science and policy.

Wakhungu will be tasked to ensure the latest scientific findings are reflected in high-level policy discussions within the United Nations system.
