Waititu declared unfit to hold public office

Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi has declared Ferdinand Waititu unfit to hold public office and nullified his appointment as chairman of Athi Water Services Board.

The ruling followed an application by businessman Benson Riitho who claimed that Mr Waititu is unfit to hold office.

In January, Justice Ngugi had stopped the appointment of the former Embakasi MP as chairman of Athi Water Services Board on grounds of integrity.

Justice Ngugi ruled that she was satisfied with the urgent application filed by businessman to temporarily stop Mr Waititu from assuming office until the case is determined.

Mr Riitho claimed in his application that the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Environment, Water and Natural Resources Judy Wakungu irregularly appointed Mr Waititu to head the water board without considering the integrity of the former MP.

He argued that Mr Waititu lacks personal integrity, competence and is not suitable to hold the post as demanded by constitutional threshold.-nation.co.ke
