Kenyan delegation from Laikipia visits Portland Oregon

A delegation of political leaders in Laikipia, Kenya, have come to the City of Roses to learn about progressive urban planning, according to a press release from Portland State University. The delegation is participating in First Stop Portland, a program at the university that leads customized study tours of the city. The Kenyan group is the first African delegation to participate.

Kenya adopted a new constitution in 2010 that established counties, including Laikipia. The new county leaders will attend presentations on government relations, sustainability policy, environmental ethics and more. The group will visit Salem and local sites and hear talks from Rep. Earl Blumenaur, D-Ore., and Mayor Charlie Hales.
