A study released by Consumer Insight has ranked Kenya’s love for shopping malls second in Africa, after South Africa.
This is despite the Westgate attack, and the subsequent caution messages on attacks at other malls.
According to the study, Kenyans increasingly spend their times in shopping malls, indicating changing consumer trends.
Dubbed “Africa Has Finally Found True Love”, the study reveals that 47% of Kenyan shoppers prefer malls for shopping and other social activities.
In South Africa, 77% confessed to preferring shopping malls. Nigeria was third at 37%, with Ghana coming fourth at 34%.
Nairobi has seen an increase in the number of malls recently, with about 5 currently under construction. Garden City along Thika Road will be the biggest upon its completion next year.
