Kenyan in US charged with attempted murder
Police in Worcester, Massachusetts, have arrested and charged a Kenyan man in connection with a shooting that occurred on a city street over the weekend.
Brian Njuguna, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder on Wednesday. He also faces counts of assault, battery, discharging a gun within 500 feet of a building and possession of a gun and ammunition without a Firearms license.
Police records seen by the Nation indicate that the authorities responded to a 4:35 a.m. gunfire call on Sunday morning in the area of Genesee Street.
“Upon arrival, officers recovered evidence, spoke with witnesses and interviewed the teenage victim targeted in the incident. The shooting stemmed from an earlier fight between the victim and Mr Njuguna,” says a police report.
“After carrying out investigations, we are have incriminating evidence that Mr Njuguna committed the acts and that is why we located and charged him,” a police spokesperson told masslive.com, a local newspaper on Wednesday evening.
The alleged victim, a 19-year-old man, was not injured in the early Sunday incident.
