“We suspect the church members are former followers of the outlawed Mungiki sect and should we find out that they are involved in criminal activities, we shall close it in accordance with the law,” Mr Wa Kamau told the media after addressing a security meeting in Kitengela town Sunday.

The Kitengela based church remained closed Sunday as members kept away fearing arrest following reports that police were investigating the members.

Mr Wa Kamau said they are investigating the church after seven bodies were discovered in two shallow graves at a quarry in Kitengela

“We have arrested over 100 people whom we suspect are former members of the sect and they have provided us with some crucial information that could lead to the arrest of the killers.
