Kihalangwa appointed as new immigration director

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday appointed retired Major General Gordon Kihalangwa as the new Director of Immigration.

He replaces Jane Waikenda who was posted to Pretoria, South Africa as a Deputy Head of Mission.

A statement by State House spokesman said Mr Kihalangwa has served as head of the Military Police before being elevated to Assistant Chief of Defence Forces responsible for personnel and logistics at Defence Headquarters.

“The new Director of Immigration has a wealth of experience in both security services and people management. His appointment greatly strengthens the nation’s policing and control of its borders, as well as its internal security,” the statement by Manoah Esipisu said.
