Muthama, Ndemo summoned to court over Malili Ranch
The suspects are required to appear in court on September 5 over theft and abuse-of-office charges relating to the acquisition of the ranch where Konza Technology City is proposed to be built.
Senator Muthama is to answer to charges, jointly with others, of alleged theft of Sh179 million, while Dr Ndemo faces charges of failing to comply with procurement laws.
Others facing charges are the directors of Malili Ranch Ltd, Julius Kilonzo Maweu, David Ngilai, James Munguti, Ronald Laboso Musengi, Julius Mbau Nzioka and a former senior Lands officer, Zablon Mabea.
Six charges have been preferred against the suspects.
They have all been summoned by Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ndwiga to appear in court on Friday next week.
Senior Counsel Paul Kibugi Muite, who was appointed as a public prosecutor by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) following a Gazette notice dated August 27, 2014, will prosecute the case.
The DPP, in exercise of powers conferred to him under Chapter 75 of the Laws of Kenya, appointed Mr Muite to prosecute the alleged monumental fraud.
