A man who was shot and killed on Monday night was identified yesterday as a North Linden resident.

Meshack K. Mwangi was found with a gunshot wound in his upper body in front of 3526 Greenwich St. at 11:51 p.m. Monday. Columbus police said that Mwangi, 62, lived next door.

He was taken to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead early yesterday.

Columbus police homicide detectives said they have no known suspect or motive in the shooting.

Mwangi and his wife of 33 years divorced in October, according to court records. He and Ruth Kinyanjui were married in 1981 in Nairobi, Kenya.

At Kinyanjui’s North Side house, family gathered yesterday. Sam Kinyanjui said his mother wasn’t ready to talk about his dad.

Mwangi is the city’s 64th homicide victim this year. Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS (8477).
