Cord leader Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida Odinga gave a moving speech about their departed first born son, Fidel, during ODM’s 10th celebration in Mombasa, on Saturday.
For instance, Ida thanked the Mombasa Governor in her speech, marking the occasion where Ida Odinga thanks Governor to honor a memory close to her heart.
“I want to thank you Bwana governor and your team for remembering Fidel and naming a road after him. It reminds us that at one time we had a child called Fidel Odinga. He would be here today, but God chose to take him,” said Ida.
Fidel Castro Odinga was found dead in his Karen home early this year, after a night out with friends.
During the celebrations Ida called on the electorate to vote for ODM party leader Raila Odinga after he was unanimously endorsed as the party’s presidential candidate during the celebrations.
“ODM stands for good governance, equity and quality living standards,”She said.
She taunted Jubilee Party’s merger, where delegates demanded allowances promised to them.
She added that the party buys support as it cannot offer any meaningful leadership Kenyans need.
Ida reiterated that no ODM member was paid or promised money to attend ODM’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
She hit out at those who defected from ODM to Jubilee saying they did not share the party’s values and principles. Her stance was firm despite Ida Odinga thanks embracement for other Governors honoring events.
Those who defected to to Jubilee include MPs Gideon Mung’aro (Kilifi North), Mustafa Idd (Kilifi South), Zainab Chidzuga (Kwale women representative), Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, among others.
“They went away for two reasons. First, they did not understand our policies, vision and values. They also left ODM because they wanted money. If someone wants to go, the door is wide open,” She said.
