Cord leader Raila Odinga will travel to the US in a weekโs time.
Mr Odinga has been invited to give speeches at various universities and institutions. He will also hold talks with US government leaders.
His spokesman, Dennis Onyango, confirmed that Mr Odinga would fly out on October 7.
โHe will be travelling for an event at Yale University, Connecticut, where he is expected to deliver a speech on October 9,โ Mr Onyango said.
EXAGGERATED OPTIMISM?
At Yale, Mr Odinga is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the institution and lobby on the possibility of expanding its scholarship programmes to more Kenyans.
โThe main lecture will focus on Africa as the next frontier of (the) global economy and whether the optimism is exaggerated,โ said Mr Onyango.
Mr Odinga is also expected in Columbia for a similar event before travelling to Mozambique on October 12 as an observer of that countryโs presidential elections on October 15.
The trip comes at a time President Barack Obama has begun opening up to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
