Uhuru’s Sh1 million check to Groove Award winners

waigurubahatimain041014This year’s Groove Award winners received a cheque worth Sh1 million from the president.

Ministry of Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, presented the cheques.

Groove Awards Male Artiste of the Year, Bahati and Female Artiste of the Year, Sarah K received Sh200,000 each, while the six new artiste nominees of the year, received Sh600,000 to sponsor their careers.

“I’m quite honoured and thankful to God. This is a dream come true for me,” Bahati told Heads Up.

Well, looks like Uhuru is a man of his words.

During the Groove Awards Gala held on June 1, he pledged to support the local music industry.

Pitson, LJ Masai, Lady Bee and Betty Bayo who were in attendance, will also benefit from the Sh600,000 kitty.
