Raila called on the government to expedite a court case that was filed to halt occupation of the housing units by dwellers in the settlement to enable them move into the houses.

An injunction had been filed in court challenging the construction of 200 stalls as the area was still occupied by other settlers. The settlers obtained a court injunction barring the demolition of the units.

Uhuru’s visit on Sunday was the second impromptu tour after having conducted a previous one with Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero and Planning CS Anne Waiguru to assess development clean up exercise and projects being done by the National Youth Service.

Kidero was to tour the same slum upgrading projects Wednesday afternoon, but cancelled the plans last minute after it emerged that the tour would coincide with Railaโ€™s.
