Talk of Kenyans rubbing shoulders with international celebrities, then King Kanja will definitely be on that list. The fast rising UK-born Kenyan rapper/singer is keen to follow in the footstep of the like of Lupita Nyong’o who has already secured a niche on global stage of stardom.
In 2009, Kanja cemented Kenya’s name on BET when he emerged as the winner of BET’s 106 & Park Wild Out Wednesday with his song ‘Shorty Say Ey’.
Apart from BET, Kanja also has other international recognitions; he won Jamhuriwood award- most promising artist (2011), MTV Base Africa All Star (2013). He also featured on Coca-Cola’s ‘Africa Let’s Go Crazy’ Commercial.
The singer has rubbed shoulders with neo-soul recording artists, Raheem Devaughn, J. Holiday, Slim (from Legendary R & B group 112), Jeremiah, Latoya Luckett, Fabolous, dancehall legend, Beenie Man among others.
