Kidero forced to walk 3km after demonstrators block road

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was forced to walk about 3km from Roysambu to Mwiki after residents blocked a road during a demonstration.

Kidero was with Kasarani MP John Njoroge during the incident on Monday over the recarpeting of Kasarani – Mwiki road.

Members of the public also walked to Roysambu from the CBD and Kasarani after protesters dumped banana stems and burned tyres on the road.

The governor said Sh500 million has been assigned to repairing the dilapidated road and that the exercise will begin in less than 10 days.

He asked Kura to fast-track the procurement process saying motorists need not be inconvenienced.

The protest caused a major traffic snarl up.
