Charity Ngilu, Kambi, Michael Kamau kiss Cabinet bye in fresh reshuffleFormer Cabinet secretaries who stepped aside on allegations of corruption were confronted with the bitter truth when the new Cabinet reshuffle was announced late Tuesday.

Engineer Michael Kamau, Charity Ngilu, Davis Chirchir, Kazungu Kambi and Felix Koskei bid the Cabinet bye as new names were announced and their dockets filled after barely serving for two years. They were suspended eight months ago.

Despite a glimmer of hope after some were cleared of graft allegations, the hard truth dawned late Tuesday evening as their names did not feature in the list announced by President Uhuru at State House.

The five bigwigs may as well start looking for new jobs as political observers saw changes as playing the ethnic balance in which former assistant minister Mwangi Kiunjuri replaced Anne Waiguru who unceremoniously resigned from the Devolution and Planning docket.

Charles Keter, who is Kericho Senator, was named Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum effectively sealing the fate of Chirchir. Keter is an experienced politician and is expected to sail smoothly through the National Assembly during vetting exercise.

Eng Kamau’s long career as public servant came to an end as Joe Mucheru was hauled from Google to replace him.

Outspoken coast Politician Kazungu Kambi will go back to the drawing board as he missed out when youthful Dan Kazungu, who is the Malindi MP, was named CS Mining to replace him, sealing his fate politically as the Jubilee Administration hit the midterm mark.

Cleophas  Mailu Mwinzi was seen as a political switch for veteran Kamba politician Charity Ngilu who may soon start rejigging her political strategies ahead.

Mr Willy Bett is the newcomer who will fly the flag after replacing Felix Koskei in a balance that takes interest of the Rift Valley.

It was not immediately clear why the ministers who were cleared could not return to the Cabinet but the appointments cames just a day after the President took new measures to fight graft which has rocked his regime.

The full list of nominees is Mwangi Kiunjuri (Devolution and Planning), Dan Kazungu (Mining), Willy Bett (Agriculture) Cecille Karimi Kariuki (Public Service, Sports and Youth) Joe Mucheru (ICT), Charles Keter (Energy), Cleophas Mwinzi (Health), Judi Wangalwa Wakhungu ( Environment, and Natural Resources), Eugene Wamalwa (Water), Henry Rotich (Treasury), Hassan Wario (Sports), Fred Matiang’i (Education), James Macharia (Transport),Joseph Nkaisserry ( Interior), Amina Mohammed (Foreign Affairs), Najib Balala (Tourism), Phylis Kandie (Labour), Rachel Omamo (Defence), Prof Jacob Kaimenyi (Lands), Adan Mohammed (Industrialisation) and Githu Muigai for Attorney General.
