A driver was on Wednesday arraigned in court for hitting a car belonging to Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga.
Simon Kinoti appeared before Kibera Law Courts where he was accused of careless driving leading to the offence.
According to the prosecution, the suspect knocked Mr Railaย Odinga’s car on June 7 around Nairobi’s Karen estate causing damages.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, the driver pleaded guilty to the charges begging the judge for leniency.
The father of six argued that he was a first-time offender, therefore, should be pardoned.
However, Magistrate Ochoiย ruled that the accusedย pays a Sh30,000 fine failure to which he would serve a three-month jail term.
In May, another vehicle belonging to the Opposition leader wasย hit after CORD protesters engaged police officers in running battles with a section of supporters claiming that the windscreen had been cracked by a bullet.
The former Prime Minister indicated that he was not sure what hit the vehicle as he was not driving in it during the incident.
