Protesting Matatu Operators : A crowd of about 1,000 people is marching to Raila Odinga’s office to dump the shells of two matatus burned during Monday’s anti-IEBC protests.

Starehe MP Maina Kamanda is leading the youths and business owners in the march to the Cord leader’s Capitol Hill office in Nairobi.

Most matatus that ply the Huruma, Kariobangi and Kayole routes are in the procession.

The crowd’s first plan to go to Parliament to present a petition seeking compensation for property destroyed during the demonstrations.

Matatu owners association chairman Simon Kimutai on Tuesday threatened to mobilise youths to protect property during the Cord’s demonstrations.

“We are saddened by the turn of events where we are losing our properties. We have not interfered with anyone. We are not violent. But we will protect our business. We are ready to face anyone who will get aggressive and attempt to destroy our business,” Kimutai said.

They are driving the wreckage on a trailer.
