Raila’s Meeting Delayed By Mombasa Lunga-lunga Road Accident
An ODM meeting presided by party leader Raila Odinga was on Friday delayed after a deadly accident occurred along the Mombasa Lunga-lunga road.
The accident involving two matatus and a truck resulted in the death of one person while six others were seriously injured.
News of the accident was received with anger as residents lit bonfires and barricaded the road with stones to protest frequent crashes along the road.
ODM politicians, who were heading for a meeting with their party leader in Kwale town, were caught up in the confusion that resulted in the blockage of the road.
Among those affected by the protest were Kilifi Woman Representative Aisha Jumwa and her Mombasa counterpart Mishi Mboko, who unsuccessfully tried to cool down the angry residents.
Mr Odinga is on a party popularisation drive at the coast region and is expected to open an ODM office in Kwale town and later address a public rally at Baraza Park.
