Standard Media Group editor Aaron Ochieng charged with theft

Standard Media Group journalist Aaron Ochieng has been charged in a Nairobiย court with theย theft of a motor vehicle valued at Ksh2.8 million belonging to his colleague Joy Doreen Biira last month.

The Standard Media Group editor wasย charged with handling stolen property after being found with Biiraโ€™s Mercedes E-220 in Kisumu that had been stolen from the media house last month.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Joyce Gandani, however, released Mr Ochieng on a bond of Ksh1ย million or a cash bail of Ksh300,000 over the 23rd December theft on Mombasa Road.

The magistrate further directed that the journalistโ€™s lawyer, Ken Bosire, be supplied with witness statements or any other relevant documents, with the case to be heard the 3rd of February 2017.

Ochieng was arrested on 31st December 2016 alongside two guards who were on duty on that night, and were remanded at Industrial Area police station, Makadara Division as investigations into the matter continued.
