Kenyan truck driver is dead after a semi truck accident on I-40 just west of Weatherford in Oklahoma due to this morning’s icy weather, Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms. I-40 west of the Oklahoma City metro has been “a semi wrecker yard,” as News 9 storm tracker Val Castor described.

The accident stopped traffic in both lanes of I-40 early Saturday morning. Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area and use US-183, SH-152 and US-281 to detour. Roads in that area are slick and hazardous so drivers should drive with caution and plan extra travel time..

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, I-40 westbound between mile marker 102 and 104 in Caddo County were closed because due to icy road conditions.

The name of the deceased will be released later after all family members have been notified.
