Following the death of Benjamin Nzavi and his 11 year old daughter Tamia, who drowned at Lake Whitney in Hill County, Texas, a committee under the umbrella of Kenya Diaspora Advisory Counsil of Texas and comprising friends from other parts of the Untited States has been formed.  This committee has agreed to help facilitate Ben’s mother and brother as they attempt to get visas from Kenya and travel to attend the funerals, which are set to take place in Texas on Wednesday, May 31st.

Arrangements are ongoing, but we are appealing to our community to mobilize and help fund raise for the travel cost.  We have very little time and must act quickly.  Any additional funds raised above and beyond the visa and travel expenses will be used to meet the needs of Ben’s family during such a difficult time.  Everyone in our community matters.  We are indivisible and united at times like this and are committed to doing whatever it takes to help Ben’s mother come to honor her son and and her granddaughter.

The committee appeals to all of us to participate in whatever way possible.
