Senator Hassan Omar accused Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho of hurling insults at President Uhuru Kenyatta to win sympathy votes.
The senator said Joho should tell Mombasa residents what his achievements are instead of fighting Mr Kenyatta unnecessarily.ย “Abusing the President is not heroism. We can only celebrate you if you deliver on the development promises you made and created jobs for the jobless youth,” said Mr Omar.
He told his supporters in Mombasa that he deserves to be elected because he is the most qualified. Speaking during his first main rally at Tononoka grounds in Mvita, Omar said Joho had failed to deliver and was engaging in sideshows. Omar addressed the rally after touring different parts of the county.

In August 2018, Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, who was then serving as the Secretary General of the Wiper Party, publicly criticized Governor Ali Hassan Joho for insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Omar accused Joho of using such insults to garner sympathy votes rather than focusing on delivering tangible development to Mombasa residents. He emphasized that true leadership is demonstrated through development achievements, not through personal attacks.
Omar also challenged Joho to highlight his accomplishments since taking office in 2013 instead of engaging in unnecessary confrontations with the President.
This exchange occurred amidst heightened political tensions in Mombasa, with both leaders vying for influence and support ahead of the upcoming elections.
Omar’s remarks underscored the importance of focusing on governance and development rather than resorting to insults for political gain.
