President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday visited the family of the late Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru at their Runda home in Nairobi.
Gakuru, 51, died after a road accident near Kabati on the Thika-Muranga highway.
He was travelling to Nairobi for a morning talk show on Kameme TV.
Several leaders were present when his body was taken to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
Uhuru visited with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.
The President said Gakuru was a great leader and that the family should not lose hope in the face of tragedy.
Gakuru will be buried on November 18 at his Kirichu home in Nyeri Town constituency.
Nyeri Deputy Governor Mutahi Kahiga said this is the proposed date but they want Gakuru’s son to finish his KCSE examinations first.
He is a candidate at Alliance High School.
