“I am here to deliver congratulations from the PM and her government,” Hailey said over.

“The handshake with Uhuru was a great show of leadership. It was noticed by my Prime Minister and the government in London.”

Raila’s spokesman Dennis Onyango said the former PM “was happy to receive Hailey who delivered Downing Street’s congratulations to him and Uhuru on the handshake”.

He said the envoy lauded the great show of leadership and urged Kenyans to support the two leaders instead of fighting them.

Raila, in a tweet, said: “We had candid discussions on pertinent issues affecting our nation.”

After the handshake, the opposition leader was given more privileges in a demonstration of increased goodwill between him and Uhuru.

The Star has established that Raila is already enjoying the trappings of power from the deal.

The finer details of how the unity agreement will be implement is being worked on by Raila’s lawyer Paul Mwangi and Amb Martin Kimani – for Uhuru.

NASA principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) were not involved in the deal.

The three appear to be plotting their future without the Opposition leader whom they have vowed to teach a political lesson.

But there is anxiety among Raila’s supporters who have been thrown into confusion by the lack of clarity about their status in the wake of the handshake.
